A secondary circuit board that plugs directly into a main motherboard to add specific functionality.

A secondary printed circuit board that connects directly to a main board, usually without cables. It expands or isolates specific functions, such as power delivery, audio processing or wireless communication, keeping the main board simpler and easier to upgrade.

The RF section is on a separate daughterboard so we can swap it out for different regional frequencies.

Insider tip

Using daughterboards allows designers to spin a small, cheap module for revisions instead of replacing a massive, expensive main board.
