The web is the forming step's output: a carded layer coming off the doffer, a filament layer on the spunbond belt or a fiber mat on an airlaid wire. Unbonded webs have almost no strength and ride on belts and conveyors until bonding. Line people also say web for the moving fabric anywhere along the line, as in web break or web guiding.
Web is splitting at the doffer on the operator side, so check the card before the lapper sees it.
