A mineworker whose job was to manually push or drag loaded coal tubs from the face to the main haulageway.

A historic underground occupation involving the grueling physical labor of moving extracted coal. The worker pushed heavy, loaded carts along narrow, often uneven rails to a central collection point where ponies or mechanical ropes took over. They also returned empty carts back to the coal getters.
