Piña

nounStandard termMetallurgy

A cone-shaped mass of silver amalgam prepared for distillation.

A traditional form of silver ore processing where crushed ore is mixed with mercury to extract the silver. The resulting paste is pressed into a tight cone shape. This cone is then heated in a retort to vaporize the mercury, leaving pure, sponge-like silver behind.
