An abbreviation for vertical start-up. This is a commissioning strategy where a new manufacturing line or plant goes from zero to target production volume and quality almost instantly, rather than ramping up slowly over weeks or months. It requires extensive upfront preparation, rigorous testing of equipment before installation, and highly trained operators ready on day one.
The CQV team is aiming for a VSU on the new packaging line so we don't miss the holiday distribution window.
Achieving a true VSU relies heavily on running thorough factory acceptance testing at the equipment vendor's site before the machinery ever hits your floor.
