Autonomation

nounStandard termProduction

Automation with a human touch, allowing equipment to stop automatically when a defect occurs.

A lean manufacturing principle where machines are designed to detect abnormalities and shut down immediately without human intervention. Also known as Jidoka, it prevents defective parts from moving down the line and frees operators from constantly monitoring a single machine. Once the machine stops, a human intervenes to fix the root cause.

We added a vision sensor for autonomation so the press stops if the blank is misaligned.
