Fan coils are fed with chilled and hot water from a central plant and sit under windows, above ceilings or in closets. Two-pipe units switch between heating and cooling seasonally, while four-pipe units have separate heating and cooling coils for year-round choice. They are standard in hotels, apartments and hospitals, and their small condensate pans and filters need regular attention.
