Rehab

nounStandard termFire & Safety

A designated area and process for resting and medically evaluating responders.

Rehab is the incident rehabilitation sector where firefighters go to recover after intense physical exertion. In this controlled area, personnel remove their heavy gear, hydrate, cool down, and have their vital signs checked by medical staff. Crews are not released back to the fireground until their heart rates and temperatures return to safe baseline levels.
