Potato pen

nounStandard termFarming

A vertical growing structure used to cultivate potatoes in a small footprint.

A stacked, vertical framework usually made of wood, wire, or tires, used to grow potatoes in a highly confined space. As the potato plants grow upward, more soil or mulch is added to the pen, encouraging the stems to produce tubers along a vertical column rather than spreading horizontally.
