LiPo

abbreviationStandard termEnergy

Lithium polymer, a rechargeable battery using a polymer electrolyte instead of a liquid one.

Lithium polymer batteries use a solid or gel-like polymer electrolyte rather than a liquid solvent. This allows the cells to be manufactured in flexible, lightweight pouch formats. While they offer high specific energy and can deliver massive discharge rates, they are susceptible to swelling and thermal runaway if overcharged or punctured.
