Battery cell

nounStandard termEnergy

The fundamental electrochemical unit that makes up a larger battery assembly.

The basic building block of an energy storage system, consisting of an anode, a cathode, a separator, and an electrolyte enclosed in a single casing. Cells are manufactured in specific formats like cylindrical, pouch, or prismatic. Their individual voltage is determined by their chemistry, and they must be wired together to achieve higher system voltages.
