The Combined Charging System is an open and universal standard for electric vehicle charging. The connector adds two large direct current pins below a standard alternating current connector, allowing a single port on the vehicle to handle both slow overnight charging and high-power rapid charging. It is the dominant fast-charging standard in North America and Europe.

Do not mix it up with
- CHAdeMO: CCS uses a single combined port for AC and DC, while CHAdeMO requires a dedicated DC port separate from the AC plug.
