CCS
CCS turns up in 2 fields: refractories, energy. Here is what it means to the people in each one.
CCS in refractories
Cold crushing strength: the room-temperature compressive strength of a refractory, in MPa or psi.
Cold crushing strength: the load per unit area at which a refractory sample crushes at room temperature, measured under ASTM C133 or ISO standards along with cold modulus of rupture. Castables are tested after drying at 110 C and after firing at service-like temperatures. CCS is a good check on mixing, water and curing quality, but says little about behavior at high temperature.
"Site cubes came back with CCS at half the data sheet value, somebody added way too much water."
CCS in energy
A standardized fast-charging protocol for electric vehicles that combines AC and DC pins.
The Combined Charging System is an open and universal standard for electric vehicle charging. The connector adds two large direct current pins below a standard alternating current connector, allowing a single port on the vehicle to handle both slow overnight charging and high-power rapid charging. It is the dominant fast-charging standard in North America and Europe.
"Make sure the new charging station supports CCS at 350 kilowatts, not just the older 50 kilowatt standard."
