Cable joint

nounStandard termElectrotechnology

An engineered splice connecting two lengths of power cable.

A physical and electrical connection between two power cables that restores the mechanical strength, electrical conductivity, and insulation integrity of the original run. High-voltage joints require precise stripping, stress control to manage the electric field, and robust sealing against moisture ingress.
