The central current-carrying conductor and its immediate insulation within a larger cable.

The internal assembly of a power cable consisting of the metallic conductor and its primary layer of dielectric insulation. In multi-core cables, several of these are twisted together and surrounded by bedding, armor, and an outer sheath.

Strip the outer sheath back two meters, but be careful not to nick the insulation on the cable core.
