HDR

abbreviationStandard termElectronics

A recording device that writes digital audio or video directly to an internal hard disk drive.

HDR stands for hard disk recorder, a piece of standalone equipment that captures media streams onto magnetic platter storage rather than tape or optical media. These units typically include analog-to-digital converters, compression codecs, and a disk controller to manage continuous high-bandwidth data writes. Though largely superseded by solid-state storage, they remain in legacy broadcast and surveillance racks.

The security feed is still running through an old HDR in the server room, so pull the SATA drive if you need the footage.
