Impedance coil

nounStandard termElectronics

A wire coil specifically designed to introduce a set amount of impedance to an alternating current circuit.

An impedance coil consists of insulated wire wound around a core, used to oppose changes in current flow. In AC circuits, it provides inductive reactance that varies with frequency, making it useful for filtering out high-frequency noise or choking specific signal bands.

We need a beefier impedance coil on the input line to filter out that switching noise.
