A removable storage medium containing non-volatile flash memory chips enclosed in a standardized plastic casing, such as SD or MicroSD formats. They interface with host devices via exposed contact pads and an onboard controller. Engineers often use them for data logging in embedded systems or to load operating systems onto single-board computers.
