Jet line

nounShop talkElectricians

Lightweight pull string blown or vacuumed through empty conduit, then used to pull in heavier rope or wire.

Jet line is polypropylene pull string, named after a common brand and sold in buckets so it pays out freely. A foam piston called a mouse or carrier is tied on and blown or vacuumed through an empty conduit with a power fishing system, and the string then pulls in a heavier rope, mule tape or the wire itself. It is also left in empty conduits for future pulls, tied off at both ends.

Heard on the job
