Grout

nounStandard termBuilding

A fluid mixture of cement, sand, and water used to fill gaps in masonry and tile work.

A highly workable, flowable mortar used to fill voids, seal joints, and bond masonry units together. Unlike standard mortar which must hold its shape to support bricks, this mixture is wet enough to pour or pump into the cores of concrete blocks or the narrow spaces between floor tiles. It cures to form a solid, water-resistant barrier.
