Bullnose

nounStandard termBuilding

A masonry unit or tile with a convex, rounded edge used for finishing corners.

A type of trim piece featuring a smooth, rounded edge rather than a sharp 90-degree angle. It is used extensively in tile work, bricklaying, and plastering to finish outside corners, window sills, and the tops of wainscoting. The rounded profile prevents chipping and eliminates sharp, dangerous edges in high-traffic areas.

Make sure you order enough bullnose to finish the outside corners of the shower niche.

Insider tip

When estimating tile, always calculate bullnose by linear footage rather than square footage.
