The Lunar Module is the official designation for the Apollo spacecraft that carried astronauts from lunar orbit to the lunar surface. It replaced the earlier acronym LEM. It was a two-stage vehicle built by Grumman, featuring a descent stage to land and an ascent stage to return the crew to orbit.
