Innage

nounStandard termAviation

The volume or weight of fuel remaining in an aircraft tank after a flight.

Innage measures the actual physical quantity of usable fuel left in an aircraft at the end of a sector. Crews and dispatchers track this value to verify fuel consumption against flight plans and to calculate the required uplift for the next leg. It serves as a critical metric for evaluating aerodynamic efficiency and engine performance over a specific route.

Heard on the job

Ground crew needs the final innage before they hook up the refueling hose for the turn.

Insider tip

Do not confuse innage with ullage, which is the empty space above the liquid in the tank.
