Trash
Trash turns up in 2 fields: powder coating, farming. Here is what it means to the people in each one.
Trash in powder coating
Floor word for dirt, lint, fibers and debris cured into the finish as bumps.
Trash covers any foreign particle that lands on the part or the uncured powder and cures into the film: shop dust, rag lint, sanding debris, flakes of cured powder off hooks or oven ducts, even insects. It is the most common cosmetic reject on high-gloss and dark colors. Pressurized booths, clean hooks, good blow-off and a clean oven keep it down.
"Gloss black looks like sandpaper, there's trash in every panel, when did anyone last vacuum the oven?"
Trash in farming
The leftover plant residue on a field after harvesting.
The stems, leaves, stalks, and other organic matter left on the soil surface after a crop has been harvested. Depending on the farming system, this material is either plowed back into the soil to build organic matter, left on the surface to prevent erosion, or baled and removed.
"The planter is struggling to cut through all the corn trash left over from last season."
