This jig features a series of angled slits cut into a piece of wood or plastic, creating flexible fingers that apply consistent pressure to a workpiece. It is clamped to a table saw or router table to keep boards from wandering away from the fence during a cut. The angled fingers also bite into the wood to prevent dangerous kickback if the blade binds.
Heard on the job
Set up a featherboard on the router table before you run that narrow molding.
Insider tip
Never place a featherboard past the front edge of the saw blade, or it will pinch the wood against the blade and cause severe kickback.
