Edgebanding

nounStandard termWoodworking

A thin strip of veneer or plastic used to cover the exposed edges of manufactured boards.

This narrow strip of material is applied to the raw edges of plywood, particleboard, or MDF to create the appearance of solid wood. It is typically attached using heat-activated adhesives or contact cement. Applying this strip protects the inner core from moisture and gives cabinetry a finished, professional look.
