A stick clip is a mounting piece consisting of a perforated metal or plastic base plate with a protruding spindle or pin. The base is adhered directly to a cured waterproofing membrane using construction adhesive or a peel-and-stick pad. Workers then impale rigid insulation or drainage composites onto the pins and lock them in place with a friction washer, securing the layers without driving mechanical fasteners through the waterproofing.
Press the stick clips into the membrane every two feet, let the adhesive set, and then push the drainage board onto the pins.
Always check that the adhesive used for the stick clip is chemically compatible with the waterproofing membrane, as solvent-based glues can melt polyurethane or asphalt.
