The family is named by connection type: weldolets for butt weld branches, sockolets for socket weld, threadolets for threaded, plus elbolets on elbows, latrolets at 45 degrees and nipolets with an integral nipple. The fitting is contoured to the header and carries its own reinforcement, so no separate pad is needed. A hole is cut in the header first, then the olet is welded on.
Weld a 3/4 inch threadolet at 6 o'clock for the drain and a sockolet on top for the pressure gauge.
