Garter stitch

nounStandard termTextiles

A basic, reversible knitting pattern that creates horizontal ridges.

A fundamental knitted fabric structure composed entirely of knit stitches when worked flat, or alternating knit and purl rounds when worked in the round. It produces a thick, squishy fabric with identical horizontal ridges on both the right and wrong sides. It is highly valued because it lies flat without curling at the edges.
