Superfloppy

nounStandard termTelecom & IT

An older, high-capacity magnetic storage disk with the same form factor as a standard floppy.

A class of removable magnetic storage drives that matched the 3.5-inch form factor of standard floppy disks but held significantly more data, usually between 100 and 250 megabytes. The most common examples were the Iomega Zip drive and the Imation LS-120 SuperDisk. They bridged the gap between standard 1.44 megabyte floppies and writable CDs.

Heard on the job

I found an old LS-120 superfloppy in the archive, but we don't have a drive that can read it anymore.
