Responsor

nounStandard termTelecom & IT

A receiver unit paired with an interrogator to capture and process replies from a transponder.

A responsor is the receiving half of an active radar or identification system. While the interrogator transmits the challenge signal, the responsor listens for the specific coded reply from the target's transponder. It decodes this return signal to determine the identity, distance, or status of the responding unit.

Heard on the job

The interrogator is firing correctly, but the responsor isn't picking up any replies from the aircraft.
