Reception

nounStandard termTelecom & IT

The quality or act of capturing an incoming radio frequency signal.

Reception describes how well a receiving device can capture a transmitted signal amidst background noise and interference. Poor reception results in dropped packets, static, or complete loss of the link. It is heavily influenced by antenna placement, atmospheric conditions, and physical obstacles blocking the line of sight.
