Dial-around

nounStandard termTelecom & IT

A telecom service accessed by dialing a specific prefix to bypass the default long-distance carrier.

A routing method where a caller dials a specific access code (often a 10-10-XXX number) to route a toll call through a third-party telecommunications provider instead of their presubscribed long-distance carrier. This allows users to take advantage of cheaper per-minute rates without formally changing their primary telephone service.
