Composite video, blanking, and sync

nounStandard termTelecom & IT

An analog television signal format that combines picture data and synchronization pulses on a single wire.

A baseband analog video format that carries standard-definition picture information along with horizontal and vertical synchronization pulses, but no audio. Because all the timing and luminance data share the same channel, it requires only a single coaxial cable or RCA connector. It is the lowest common denominator for legacy video equipment routing.

Heard on the job

The old monitor only takes composite video, blanking, and sync, so you'll need an active converter for the HDMI output.
