Coaxial cable

nounStandard termTelecom & IT

A copper transmission line built with a central conductor surrounded by an insulating layer and a braided metallic shield.

A coaxial cable carries high-frequency electrical signals with low loss and high protection against electromagnetic interference. The inner core transmits the signal, while the outer conductive shield prevents signal leakage and blocks external radio frequency noise. It is heavily used in cable television distribution, broadband internet connections, and connecting radio transmitters to antennas.

Check the fittings on that coaxial cable; we're seeing a lot of ingress noise on the return path.
