ACPR

abbreviationStandard termTelecom & IT

A metric that specifies how much of a transmitter's power spreads into adjacent frequency channels.

Adjacent Channel Power Ratio (ACPR) evaluates the linearity of a radio frequency power amplifier by comparing the power in the main communication channel against the power in the adjacent bands. It is essentially the same concept as ACLR but is more commonly used in older wireless standards and general RF engineering, whereas ACLR is the preferred term in 3GPP cellular standards.

Heard on the job

Tune the pre-distortion circuit until the ACPR drops below the required threshold for the carrier.

Do not mix it up with

  • ACLR: ACPR is the general RF engineering term, while ACLR is the specific term used in 3GPP mobile standards like UMTS and LTE.
