Fiber insulation needled into a flexible mat, sold in rolls at densities of 64, 96, 128 and 160 kg/m3 (4, 6, 8 and 10 pcf) and thicknesses from about 6 to 50 mm. It is laid in layers on studs with retaining washers, wrapped around pipes and ducts, used as backup behind brick or castable and folded into modules. Higher density gives better wind and erosion resistance and lower conductivity at high temperature.
Two layers of 8 pound blanket on the roof, stagger the joints and pin it on 12-inch centers.
