Combination car

nounStandard termRailroad

A passenger railcar divided into sections for passengers and baggage or express freight.

This type of car features a standard passenger seating area in one half and a large open compartment with sliding doors in the other half for luggage, mail, or express parcels. They were widely used on branch lines and local trains where a dedicated baggage car was not economically justified.
