A classic steam locomotive wheel arrangement under the Whyte notation, universally known as the Pacific type. It features a four-wheel leading truck for stability at speed, six coupled driving wheels for traction, and a two-wheel trailing truck to support a wide, deep firebox. This design became the standard for heavy, fast passenger service across North America.
