Coextrusion

nounStandard termProduction

The process of pressing two or more materials through a single die at the same time.

Coextrusion fuses multiple layers of polymer or other materials into a single continuous profile or film. Multiple extruders feed different melts into a single die head, allowing manufacturers to combine the properties of different plastics, like a rigid core with a soft-touch outer layer. It is heavily used in packaging, tubing, and weatherstripping.
