Sprue

verbShop talkLogistics

A maneuver where a driver pulls completely through a parking space to face outward in the adjacent spot.

Pulling through an empty parking bay into the one directly ahead of it so the vehicle faces the aisle. Drivers perform this maneuver to avoid backing out later when leaving the spot. It is highly preferred in trucking and fleet operations because it eliminates blind spots associated with reversing into active traffic lanes.

Heard on the job

I got lucky at the truck stop and was able to sprue right into a spot near the fuel islands.

Insider tip

Safety managers constantly preach this technique since backing accidents account for a huge percentage of minor fleet collisions.
