Lamps and luminaires are tested under the IEC 62471 family of photobiological safety standards and assigned a risk group: RG0 exempt, RG1 low risk, RG2 moderate risk, and RG3 high risk, based on the worst of several hazards including blue light, UV and thermal retinal hazards. General lighting products are usually RG0 or RG1; RG2 products need labeling against staring at the source, and RG3 is restricted.
Submittal shows RG2 at 200 mm, fine on a 9 meter high-bay, but not for the low display case where kids can look straight in.
