Motion parallax

nounStandard termLighting

The visual cue where objects closer to a moving observer appear to travel faster than distant objects.

A depth perception phenomenon occurring when a viewer or a camera moves relative to a scene. Objects near the focal plane shift rapidly across the field of view, while background elements move slowly. Lighting designers and cinematographers manipulate depth of field and lighting contrast to enhance this effect, creating a stronger sense of three-dimensional space on a two-dimensional screen or stage.
