Corrugated lens

nounStandard termLighting

A stepped optical element designed to provide the focusing power of a thick lens with significantly less mass.

A corrugated lens features a series of concentric annular sections carved into its surface, reducing its overall thickness and weight. This design maintains the surface curvature required to bend light without the bulky core of a traditional solid lens. It is widely used in stage lighting and lighthouses where large-diameter, lightweight optics are essential.
