Convex lens

nounStandard termLighting

An optical element that curves outward to converge parallel light rays to a focal point.

A convex lens is thicker at its center than at its edges, causing transmitted light to bend inward and converge. It is the fundamental component for focusing a broad light source into a tight, intense beam. In lighting fixtures, these lenses are used in condensers and projectors to gather and direct light efficiently.

Heard on the job

Swap out the flat glass for a convex lens so we can punch that beam all the way to the back wall.
