A connector that contains a short factory-polished fiber stub protruding from its back end. The installer fusion splices the cable fiber to that stub and the splice is protected inside the connector body or boot, so no splice tray or pigtail is needed. It combines the low loss of a fusion splice with a factory end-face finish, at the cost of a fusion splicer on every job.
No room for a splice tray in that wall box, so we'll put splice-on SCs straight on the drop.
