A vector processing unit (VPU) handles one-dimensional arrays of data, known as vectors, in a single instruction cycle. Unlike scalar processors that handle one data point at a time, these units accelerate mathematical operations common in scientific simulations, graphics rendering, and machine learning. They form the core architecture of many graphics cards and specialized hardware accelerators.
The algorithm runs much faster if you offload the matrix multiplications to the VPU instead of the main processor.
