Time stretch analog-to-digital converter

nounStandard termElectronics

An ADC architecture that optically slows down high-frequency signals before digitizing them.

A conversion system that uses optical processing to expand an analog signal in time, effectively compressing its bandwidth, before feeding it into a standard electronic analog-to-digital converter. This allows conventional digitizers to capture ultra-fast transient events that would otherwise exceed their maximum sampling rate.

We're using a time stretch analog-to-digital converter to capture the sub-nanosecond pulses from the laser without losing resolution.
