Time delay and integration clock

nounStandard termElectronics

A timing mechanism used in specialized readout integrated circuits to synchronize moving image data.

A clock signal that drives the charge transfer in a time delay and integration (TDI) image sensor. It shifts accumulated charge from one row of pixels to the next at the exact speed the subject is moving across the focal plane. This integration builds up signal strength in low-light conditions without blurring the resulting image.

Heard on the job

If the time delay and integration clock is out of sync with the conveyor speed, the scanned image will smear.
