SRAM

abbreviationStandard termElectronics

A type of fast, volatile memory that retains data without needing periodic refresh cycles.

SRAM stands for static random-access memory. It uses a bistable latching circuitry, typically consisting of six transistors per cell, to store each bit of data. Because it does not require constant refreshing like dynamic RAM, it offers much lower latency and is widely used for CPU caches and high-speed registers, though it consumes more silicon area per bit.

The microcontroller only has 32 kilobytes of internal SRAM, so we've to optimize our data buffers.
